"The planet is in a pickle, but fermenting will help save us!"

The mission of this meetup is to increase public awareness as to the extraordinary health benefits of live-culture (fermented) foods and beverages. We also wish to create a sense of community among those who practice the art of fermentation.

We represent a meeting place for a range of health perspectives that share the practice of fermentation as a common element. All are invited: vegans, raw foodists, vegetarians, "Body Ecologists", the followers of Westin A. Price, etc. Some events will focus upon these specific orientations.

Join us for a "cultured vegetable party", where we'll make raw sauerkraut and kimchi. Or learn about the many varieties of dairy & non-dairy kefirs, and other kefir products, like raw kefir cheese and ice cream. We'll share the art of making kombucha tea and many other wonderful fermented, healing foods and beverages.

Network through our message board to share recipes, kefir grains, kombucha scobys, etc. Discover learning resources as to the science of probiotics and their capacity to heal the epidemic unwellness of modern society.

Check the "About Us" page for more great info!

Welcome! It is great to have you here. I am hoping to have a time to meet up so we can all learn and try something new from the NT book. Glad you joined!

Ever since reading 'Nourishing Traditions' I've been curious about the place of fermented food in cultural cuisine. Also, I would love to learn about more healthy foods I can make at home.

Hi! Making kraut is so easy! We just made some a few weeks ago and have lots of it. Maybe you can look into the Nourishing Traditions to make it, or even I could show you. It takes like 20mins to prepare, and 2-3 days to ferment. It iis much better after 2weeks. cj

I have some health problems that absorb my life. I have started making goat milk kefir, it's good for breakfast. I make yoghurt now too - so easy. I was wondering where to get real sauerkraut around here, or I should venture to make some.

I totally agree with you about the processed foods. This is a fun group, and hopefully we can all teach a little something to each other. Hope to see you at the next meetup.
