Enjoy a Spring Flower Walk, Wooded Hike, Gentle Yoga Poses, Group Meditation and Coe Hall Tour at Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park
Saturday, May 30th at 12.30pm the day will end when the park closes at 5pm
We will start our day with a guided tour of one of the few remaining Gold Coast estates, Coe Hall. Together we will explore some of the 409 acres including the gardens, hiking trails, greenhouses woodland paths and outstanding plant collections. As a group we will indulge in a group meditation and gentle yoga poses. Bring a snack and plan for a late afternoon picnic.
Planting Fields, is one of the few remaining Gold Coast estates on Long Island's North Shore that retains its original 409 acres as well as its historic buildings and landscape. Rolling lawns, formal gardens, hiking trails and specimen plantings, as well as the Camellia Greenhouse and the Main Greenhouse, with its unique seasonal displays, are a treat for visitors year round. Planting Fields is rich with history. In addition, current information about innovative garden techniques and new plant selections is available.
The Arboretum contains greenhouses, gardens, woodland paths, and outstanding plant collections. The estate buildings include Coe Hall, the 65 room former residence of the Coe family which has been restored as a museum bringing the past to life. Planting Fields is an ideal location for a day of fun.
There are over 200 acres of woodland at Planting Fields. Miles of hiking trails lead through many natural areas of the arboretum. Enjoy many deciduous trees, flowering plants and interesting wildlife. Come and explore the natural beauty of Planting Fields
Coe Hall contains many original pieces and furnishings once belonging to the Coe family, including the restored Louis XVI Reception Room. The mostly Elizabethan style interior of the Tudor Revival mansion is a showcase of artistry and craftsmanship in its wood and stone carvings, ironwork, 13th - 19th century stained glass windows. By Train: Oyster Bay is the last stop on the Oyster Bay line of the Long Island Railroad. Planting Fields is approximately 1 ½ miles west.
By Car: Long Island Expressway to Exit 41 North or Northern State Parkway to Exit 35 North. Proceed north on Route 106 towards Oyster Bay. Turn left onto 25A Northern Boulevard. Make first right onto Mill River Road. Follow green & white signs to the Arboretum on Planting Fields Road
